We understand the unique health needs of women and want to help you every step of the way. A woman's reproductive system changes over her lifetime from adolescence, young adulthood to motherhood, menopause and beyond.
A well-woman exam is an annual preventive check-up that reviews a woman's overall health. During the exam it provides the opportunity to discuss personal health concerns and preventive screenings for breast and cervical cancer, osteoporosis and bone health.
A key part of the well-woman exam is a pelvic exam to help identify potential issues such as ovarian cysts, sexually transmitted diseases or early signs of gynecological cancers. As part of this, a pap smear is often performed. A pap smear is a screening for cervical cancer.
A breast exam is also and integral part of the well-woman exam. The doctor will check both breasts and underarm areas for lumps or other changes that could be indicative of breast cancer.
Women should perform self breast examinations regularly and report any abnormalities to the doctor.
Whether you are seeing the doctor for a well-woman exam or an office visit. Preventative care will be provided such as lab work, imaging, mammograms, dexa scan, health screenings and immunizations.
